How to Celebrate Valentine’s Week Differently!
The so-called love is in the air (though I can’t feel or see
it) because it's Valentines’ week. I have totally trained myself to witness all
these eight days of public display of affection by the lovey-dovey couples. My
heart goes out to all the singles out there who would be mere spectators like
me but you know what? You can transform this valentines’ week into a “do-good”
week if you are single or the love of your life is staying far away and thus
you can’t celebrate it. So, while the couples in front of you indulge in public
display of love and affection, you indulge in some public service. Here’s
how...
Propose day- Help
your skittish or low on confidence friend to confess his/her feelings to the
person they like. Public service, see!
Chocolate day- A
girl’s eyes fills with awe when you present her chocolates but imagine the amount
of happiness a poor child would experience when you give him/her a chocolate.
Invest in those who can’t afford.
Teddy day- It is useless to splurge hard earned money on a soft toy (whose price would be doubled this week).
Instead, be a Good Samaritan and feed the needy with that much amount of money.
Promise day- I
don’t know what the hell people do in this so-called promise day but instead of
promising your other half about staying together forever and stuffs, promise
YOURSELF to be a better person or promise yourself that you would work harder.
Sounds better to me!
Hug day- You know
what, hug a friend you are not talking to for a while because of a tiff, hug
somebody who is sad or the one who has done a good job. Your life would be more
beautiful like that.
Kiss day- Yes, it
is a couple’s week but the children and the elders would be hitting the streets
too. So, what you can do is show the couples the way to the nearest park if
they get mushy on the street.
NOTE: You either would be thanked by the couple or shooed away
by them.
Valentines’ day-
Stay online to catch and enjoy the committed ones posting sweet statuses,
pictures, videos and what not, decorated on your Facebook wall from time to
time that day.
And you know the funny part? Few years later (or maybe the
next year), they would be with a totally new person after promising in their
statuses that how they are going to stay together happily ever after.
So, all the singles and the one with no plans out there,
celebrate this week differently.
P.S. - Rose day is already gone, that is
today, so I chose to skip that. And, words can’t describe how much I hate this
whole V-day thing.
