Z for Zombies

Image
One fine morning you woke up and realize that it is a not so fine morning. Your newspaper guy hasn't turned up,you hear strange screaming from outside and cars crashing. Suddenly, your family or relative or friend phones you and tells you not to get out of your house because there are zombies all over. Yes, it is Zombie Apocalypse. This is basically the scene which will happen if you are indoors during the outbreak. If you are out during the outbreak then sooner or later, you will be one among them. According to some scientists, a zombie apocalypse is possible. Those living in the big cities will be the fastest to get affected by the virus because of the high population. Zombie movies have always entertained us by the chase-bite-kill concept. But have you ever wondered what will happen if it really happens? If you have watched any of the zombie movies, then congrats, you have chances of surviving because you know how to kill those things. If you haven't watched, then s

Is the end near?

25th April,2015..A bright Saturday morning. I was looking for some meaning in the dictionary when I stumbled upon the word "doomsday". Moments later,I thought doomsday is really here. The word "earthquake" was in everybody's mouth and there was a bit of commotion.  I considered myself lucky when I saw the condition of Nepal and other affected parts of India. How strangely Mother Nature plays with us.. Who knew that its going to be their last day on earth who died in this highly destructive earthquake? More than 2000 people died and the counting is still going on. Those people woke up only to die. Sounds so appalling.. Many of them maybe would have started something new, or some would have ended their unfinished work yesterday but they never really could do that. We all set the alarm for the next day even not sure about whether we will wake up alive or not. While I am writing this today,my bed is shaking. It has returned again. A girl came to my room runn

Siblings!

As a single child we enjoy everything alone. Be it the love of our parents, the toy world, our own room et cetera. Sharing starts once our younger sibling comes in our life. Our siblings are the first friend we make in our life with whom we share our laughter, sorrow, mother, father, books, clothes and what not.. But we don't share the same amount of responsibilities. If you are the older sibling then you definately carry way more responsibilities then your younger brother or sister. Right? If you are the first born then you earn the designation of the next bread winner of the family after your father(mother as well,if she's working). The older sibling is expected to grow much before their actual age and understand that they are grown now(fun over). This means whenever there is a sibling fight then you are expected to end it first because your mother will come to remind you that "you should not harm your younger brother/sister because he/she is small and he/she don't

Day and Destiny

Monday's child is fair of face, Tuesday's child is full of grace; Wednesday's child is full of woe, Thursday's child has far to go; Friday's child is loving and giving, Saturday's child works hard for its living; But the child who is born on the Sabbath day Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay. I was in the first standard when I came across this Mother Goose rhyme. I am a wednesday child. I hurriedly searched the meaning of "woe" as I was not aware of the word that time. Once that word showed up I was presented with meanings like, Grief,Sorrow,Misery etc. Since then, I never forgot the word "woe". What were you thinking Mother Goose when you attached the word "woe" with wednesday? I mean all the other days have pretty much good words attached to them. Then why only its the wednesday which is doomed? I relate to the "woe" thing every time something bad happens to me. For example, Even after giving the best p

The Mute Species

"Pati devta ka roop hota hai" said the autowallah while I was on a ride in his auto, returning from Sarojini Nagar after some light shopping with my two friends. He charged us 60 rupees for the ride but, trust me, that amount was nothing equivalent to the rubbish he coughed up during the near half an hour ride which screamed sexism. He was referring to an incident happened with another autowallah, whose wife smashed his head with a stone. Our autowallah was protesting that how women should stay in their limits and listen to their men,no matter what the men do or say. He kept on talking all by himself while we three educated girls stayed mum without giving him a befitting answer. After reaching my destination, I wondered why is that all the three of us haven't said a single word despite this illiterate man making degrading remarks about girls? The answer is "We" stay in our limits. Point Proved(of the autowallah).

Inception!

New city! New people! New surrounding! I got these three things once I moved to "The dilwalo ki shaher" New Delhi.  I am actually writing this quite lately as 7 months have passed since I moved in this new city. Bengalis are known to be conservative and "not so hindi" types here as I have noted in these past 7 months. Having a good command in hindi (I am not lying) have helped me to mix with the delhiwalas from day one. There's a good difference between the work culture at Delhi and back home in Kolkata.  We bengalis garnish our work with adequate amount of gossip, food and politics(political discussions,I meant silly). Its a pleasure to take a ride in the Delhi Metro(Only the non-stop announcements pisses me off). In the end,I would like to thank the domestically famous, delhi girls for making me aware of the make-up applying culture. They made me believe that natural beauty is not enough and lipstick and compact should be your best buddies(Friends, who
